Permanent part-time Dispenser 

20 hours per week, negotiable. Salary dependent on experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic new team member to join our small but busy GP Dispensing Practice in Burbage, near Marlborough, Wiltshire. We are part of the East Kennet Primary Care Network and work closely with the other local surgeries to deliver excellent patient care.

We are a small friendly Surgery with 5 GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, and a team of Dispensers and Admin/Reception Staff. We are highly regarded and valued by our 4000+ patients and are very proud of our well-deserved reputation.

Previous experience in Dispensary or in the NHS would be an advantage. Ideally you will have a Level 2 Dispensary NVQ or have completed an accredited Pharmacy Assistant Course. You will need to be a quick learner, able to pick up new skills and adapt, as we are working in an ever-changing environment. Good IT skills are essential along with the ability to multi-task. Full training will be given.

You will need to be aware of the importance of confidentiality and be able to deal with sensitive situations. Most importantly you will need to be able to work well within a small team and have an understanding and professional manner when dealing with our patients.

The hours we are looking to cover are all day Monday, Wednesday morning, and all day Friday.

You should also be flexible and prepared to work additional hours when necessary to cover holidays and sickness.

Main duties of the job include:

• Dispensing repeat and acute medication using SystmOne which has a built in scanner (which is the second checker)
• Assembling dosette boxes
• Ordering, putting away and maintaining stock levels
• Processing repeat prescription requests
• Raising private invoices
• Dealing with patient medication queries either at front desk or on the telephone
• Adhere to SOPs regarding controlled drugs
• Liasing with GPs, nurses and clinical pharmacists
• Ordering via phone or e-mail with our Appliance Contractor
