Are you a qualified GP in Bath and North East Somerset or West Wiltshire and the RUH footprint, with a passion for shaping the future of primary care? Banes Enhanced Medical Services (BEMS) is seeking an Independent GP Chair to provide strategic leadership, ensure strong governance, and support high-quality services across the B&NES region. This is a pivotal role for a GP with an in-depth understanding of local healthcare needs, GP practice operations, and collaborative leadership.
BEMS is the local not-for-profit GP Federation that works across the community to improve patient care through providing high quality community based clinical services and by linking together local General Practices and other agencies to help develop and provide those services.
What you’ll do:
– Chair Council meetings and help guide strategic decision-making.
– Chair the Annual General Meeting.
– Support the Federation’s vision, fostering collaboration and patient-centred care.
– Ensure robust governance and compliance with NHS and regulatory standards.
– Foster teamwork to support high-quality services.
– Be involved in the appointment and appraisal of the CEO.
What we’re looking for:
– Practicing GP in B&NES or West Wilshire, the RUH footprint, with leadership experience.
– Strong understanding of primary care, GP federations, and local healthcare priorities.
– Excellent communication, facilitation, and governance skills.
– Able to provide independent judgment and constructive challenge at for senior staff.
Commitment:
– On average 1 session (4 hours) per month
– Most required meetings on Thursday afternoons.
